Dr Joe Zhou, Principal Dentist
Dr Joe Zhou is the Principal Dentist and Founder of McKinnon Dental Care, alongside our sister clinics Knoxfield Dental Care and Bright Start Dental.
Joe migrated to New Zealand with his family at a young age and grew up in Wellington. He later pursued his dental studies at the University of Otago, where he developed a strong foundation in comprehensive dental care. In addition to his dental qualifications, Joe has completed a Juris Doctor degree and is an admitted Australian lawyer, reflecting his broad academic interests and unwavering commitment to professional excellence.
He is well known for his friendly manner and gentle touch—qualities that form the cornerstone of his patient-centred approach to dentistry.
Joe enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, with particular interests in orthodontics and oral surgery. He has gained valuable clinical experience working in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department at Dunedin Hospital in New Zealand, as well as the Oral Surgery Department at the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne.
Committed to excellence, Joe believes that dentistry is a lifelong learning journey. He regularly undertakes continuing professional development to stay up to date with the latest techniques and advancements, ensuring he delivers the highest standard of care to his patients.
Outside of dentistry, Joe values quality time with his family. He enjoys playing the piano and maintaining an active lifestyle through weight and strength training, reflecting his belief in overall health and wellbeing.

Dr Wendy Yu, Associate Dentist
Born and raised in Melbourne, Dr Wendy is a true Melbournian at heart. She attended the prestigious Mac.Robertson Girls’ High School and then completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine in 2013, followed by a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 2017 from The University of Melbourne.
Dr Wendy has a strong passion for healthcare. She enjoys seeing patients of all ages, helping them achieve excellent oral health and providing them with high quality evidence-based dental treatment in an honest and gentle manner.
She is qualified to provide all dental services but particularly enjoys treating children, root canal treatment and restorative treatment (fillings, crowns, cosmetic dentistry). She has also done further training to provide nitrous oxide sedation (happy gas), soft tissue laser treatment and Invisalign (clear aligner orthodontic treatment).
Dr Wendy can speak English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
Outside of the dental clinic, Dr Wendy loves her reformer Pilates, travelling the world and trying new cuisines. She also enjoys maintaining her healthy collection of indoor plants!
Dr Si Si Yu, Associate Dentist
Si Si completed both her university degrees at The University of Melbourne, first obtaining a Bachelor sf Science then graduating Top of her year as the Valedictorian for the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.
She has worked in the Knoxfield practice since 2019 and loves meeting new patients and seeing her regular patients. She grew up in Melbourne and loves that she can serve her local community continually.
Si Si believes in providing the optimal treatment for her patients in a gentle and caring manner. She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry such as Fillings , Crowns Root canal , extractions and Implants . She sees patients of all ages, in particular her gentle manner has led her to have a growing passion for working with children and easing their fears with seeing a dentist .Si Si understands the importance of oral health and takes time to listen to the concerns of her patients and explain the procedures to the patients beforehand.
Outside of dentistry, Si Si enjoys checking out new restaurants and cafes, appreciating the variety of cuisines Melbourne has to offer. She also enjoys being outdoors and enjoying the beautiful scenery nature has to offer.
Dr Samantha Er, Associate Dentist
Samantha graduated from the University of Melbourne with Bachelor of Biomedicine and Doctor of Dental Surgery. Coming from a Chinese Malaysian background and having studied Mandarin from a young age, Samantha is able to converse in Mandarin.
She has a strong interest in preventive dental care and treating kids. Samantha has always been passionate about delivering high quality care and helping people achieve good oral health. Her main aim is to help patients improve their smile and confidence through dentistry. She firmly believes that everyone deserves to have a smile that they are proud of.
Outside of dentistry, Samantha enjoys experimenting with both digital and film photography. Her spare time is usually spent going on day trips and studying Japanese language.
Dr Linda Zuo, Associate Dentist
Graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Biomedical Science from Monash University, Linda is a dedicated dentist with a strong academic foundation and a passion for excellence in patient care. Her special interests lie in cosmetic anterior restorative work and periodontics, where she blends artistry with precision to enhance patients’ smiles and oral health.
Linda also works in a public community dental clinic, where she is committed to improving access to quality dental care for underserved populations as well as providing emergency dental treatment. As a fluent Mandarin speaker, she ensures culturally sensitive care and fosters strong communication with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Beyond the clinic, Linda enjoys cultivating her love for reading, caring for her collection of indoor plants, art design, and spending quality time with her beloved fur babies.
Dr Victor Chen, Associate Dentist
Victor graduated from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Health Sciences in Dentistry and Masters of Dentistry.
He has spent time working in regional Victoria, having worked in both private and public sectors as a clinician and supervisor for dental students. Victor prides himself in providing honest, patient-focused dentistry. He spends time to ensure that you feel comfortable, heard and understood. He cares and treats his patients like family.
Victor is proficient in all aspects of dentistry but has a particular interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry. He utilises the most contemporary techniques and materials to ensure the quality of the dentistry you receive is of the highest standard. He has a very gentle patient manner, aiming to provide an anxiety free dental experience – we understand going to the dentist isn’t always the most exciting thing to do!
Victor can speak both English and Mandarin.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with friends and family, is big into fitness and likes going fishing. He is an adventurer at heart and loves trying new things so if you have any food, place or activity recommendations he is always excited to hear you out!
Our Dental Assistants
All our receptionists and assistants are accredited with either Certificate III or IV in Dental Assisting. The team possesses many years of experiences in carrying out sound clinical practices and performing high standard of infection control. Our receptionists pay high levels of attention to details and take the time to fully explain to every patient their treatment plans, all associated fees and any relevant health fund coverage.
